Why do you think the telemarketer wanted him to wait till the next day? Did he really want to sell him his stuff or just was trying to delay the suicide to have time to call to the police?

The optimist in me says he wanted to get this guy some help.  But if he was in a room full of others, why not get them to call 911 right then?  But if he was alone, that is one way to get him help without hanging up.

The devil in me says this guy would try to get him help, but he was hedging his bet that he would commit suicide anyway and wanted to sell him the plot.

I think the telemarketer was both concerned for the guy on the phone and was also still doing his job. I mean if he was really that scummy, when Mabe asked about financing, the TM could have just said well I'll ignore that you are going to commit suicide and process the paperwork.

I can only imagine what the TM REALLY thought!  Bet he wish he had another job. What a way to start the week off.  He should have gotten a call back number.

OK.. the other video had me rolling.. but this one took it too far. :(

If the poor guy on the line never found out this was a joke, and I don't think they do.. he could have psychological issues for the rest of his life with this.

Not all telemarketers are bad people.. and even the bad ones don't deserve that.

I am so upset that Tom Mabe thinks this is funny.  I only wish that poor man that had to go through this is okay.  We all have jobs and not everyone likes what we do but is it okay to be mean or evil to people no matter what their job is???? NOT FUNNY AT ALL SUICIDE IS VERY SERIOUS!!!

See, but that's just the thing.  Many of us are not in the best financial positions when these people are calling us anyhow (I'm referring mostly to credit card reps).  They don't know if someone died and you had to spend all your money on a funeral, they don't know if you are scraping up cash to support your child through college, and I doubt most of them really care about every person they call.  It doesn't matter what you say or how much you try to get them to understand, they just push the issue...push the issue...reach the goal...

Today I received so many calls, I'm thinking I have to change my number and thus, all my contact info.  I feel like there are no options.  Either pay or be bombarded everyday.  No money means I can't pay now, so they feel I should be totured about an already difficult situation 3 time every hour for 12 hours a day.  They don't care if I'm struggling or taking care of my mother.

So what this prank does is not so much to illicit hysterical laughter, but really take a scenario and cause you to think.  This telemarketer happened to be decent, but I bet the one I spoke to today would have told me that I should have planned better.  For some, those constant toll free calls may indeed be like the Angel the Death calling.

Have been in your shoes.  If you have a landline, most providers offer a service that will keep all blocked numbers from calling, and to take it one further, you can also have Do Not Disturb added and set it up so it's on 24/7.  That way every caller MUST identify themselves to you BEFORE you answer the phone!  I love it!!

Good Luck!

This is just priceless! :-D

As someone who's recently been receiving a TON of TM calls between the hours of 11 PM and 4 AM I'm fed up with it!

My home and cell numbers are both on the DNC, yet I'm still getting Unknown/Unlisted (but not fully untraceable) calls at all hours of the day and night from TM's. I'm currently seeking legal action against 4 companies in particular, with Cingular/AT&T's help.

I'm truly curious though.
Did the TM call the police or not after the gunshot?
Only Mr Mabe can answer that question, as to whether or not the cops showed up at his home to investigate the "suicide".

Personally, I wonder if this event warped the TM's little brain and he wound up in an institution?

If it did, Oh well. Karma's a b***h like that sometimes.

Hilarious, althoug I do feel sorry for the telemarketer. But, if you can't handle these pranks, why take the job? You know what's going to happen, and its only because you work for (or own) a company that's effen greedy and wants money shoved up their a**. I hate it when people call time and time again, when I tell them to stop. For any telemarketer out there that's reading this, LISTEN to people, then you won't have to put up with this s**t all the time, and that's the way it is. If I want a plot in a cemetary, I'll buy it when I want to! Don't tell me you're offering a free sattelite reciever, I HAVE ONE SHOVED UP MY A** ALREADY!

Put simply, stop the calls, and we'll stop torturing you.
