Call everyday. Sometimes leave threatening message about my account but don't say what account or who they are representing. Will call twice within seconds if I ignore. I don't answer.

I just got a call from this number.  The catch is: they asked for my ex-husband: we've been divorced for over 8 years!  Apparently they have also called my parents, and my brother's home asking for him too.  I do not know what to do at this point.  I had my credit report ran to make sure that no outstanding accounts were still open in both of our names, and no.  Another catch: my phone number is unlisted, my name isn't even close to my maiden or previous married name!  UGH!!!!

Let it go to voicemail. Said her name was Sara Rogers, and to call her back at 877-508-6301. Did not give any specifics whatsoever, just a vague threatening about "your case is about to go to file" and I'd better call.

I let it go to v-mail also.  I googled the number 877.508.6301 and found that it is MRS collection agency.  However, in the messages, they do not say what company they are with or who they are representing -- only HATEFUL threats, a call back number, and a reference number.  They have found one of my friend's home phone numbers and have tried to reach me at their house!  It is highly illegal for any agency trying to determine or collect a debt to call anyone but the person associated w/ the debt.  I do not think these "brain children" are aware of the law and if they are they are blatenly committing a crime.  I do know that consumer's have a  right to send a certified letter to the company requesting that they put in writing who they are, who they represent, and the nature of the debt (what it is, how the amounts were derived).  Should one decide to send a letter, make sure to keep a copy of the letter and all receipts associated w/ sending the letter and the receipt that it was received and who by.

Why don't you just pay your bills?  Then you would not be "hassled".
I actually thing YOU are the hassle.

Why do you want to be so uncompassionate? Someday you may fall on hard times and you will be in the same boat. Is that how you want to be treated?

@Honest - you don't seem to get it, about these companies.
I get calls from them every day.  I have great credit, a very low balance... always pay on time.  They're never looking for me, it's always someone else, yet they keep calling.  Somehow, they get your number, and the bots just keep calling.

I don't know the person they are trying to contact and have told them that and they still call.  MRN Associates are morons!

How kind of you! How about those of us who are receiving these threatening calls that don't owe the bill they are calling about? We do have rights and credit is the problem! Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring! NOT YOU OR YOUR CREDITORS! They prey on those who fall behind and fall on hard times. It is difficult enough to lie awake at night, wondering how the bills are going to get paid...then to put that nice cherry on the top with a jerk calling and harassing you, cross referencing your neighbors or your boss. You must work for one of those collection agencies!

You haven't a clue about what you are talking about.  Companies like MRS Collections will call you constantly even if the number has changed hands and you now own the number.  They think you are lying if you claim the number no longer belongs to their delinquent client.  That's my situation.  My credit is good enough that I don't have to use sub-par lenders like CapOne.  My credit union gave me a CC with a $5,000 limit at 8% interest.  Think I need a high interest CapOne account?  Yet, MRS still calls, not believing that I am not the person they are looking for.

My question to you is, why are you even trolling these boards.  Did MRS call you?  Why aren't you paying your CapOne bills?  Or do you work for MRS (more than likely) and wake up and realize phone numbers change hands.  You tell people to pay their bills well Mr. MRS Collections person, quit harassing non-customers of CapOne simply because they inherited one of your high risk account holders phone number.  Maybe if CapOne didn't make high interest loans to risky people, you wouldn't need to be here defending MRS Collections, a low life company just like CapOne.  And you must be a low life person for supporting these 2 low life companies.  CapOne took a risky chance, lost out, hires a low life collection agency like MRS who doesn't know how to properly collect from people and you defend them.  You're pathetic.  Bet you support Bush and his 9 trillion dollar deficit too.

The following are rights a consumer has regarding dealing w/ collection agencys:
Legally speaking, you should get the complete details of your accounts from the collection agency that is trying to recover the debt from you. This is known as the debt validation process as per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and through this, you can force them to provide you the following details:

The details of the account.

All the calculation should be shown of the amount that is owed.

Any copies of the papers to be furnished that shows the payment agreement.

Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable

The original creditor needs to be identified.

The Statute of Limitation needs to be proven for the collection of the debt.

The license of the collection agency applicable in the state is to be furnished along with the license numbers and Registered Agent

Proof of the agreement that the debt collector has purchased the debt or has been hired by the creditor to collect the debt from the debtor as this is the basic contract law.

Complete payment history showing the details of the creditors, payment history, amount of the debt, break up of fees/interest should be provided in paper.

A copy of the original signed loan agreement between the debtor and the original creditor establishing the debt between both the parties also has to be produced.

Before you start making payment arrangements, the collection agency is bound to serve the following details of your debt. If it is not given to you, you don't have to bother paying it. You just can't start paying on something that is not proven.

Do ensure that you send this debt validation letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will help you to record the date on which they received your letter and your effort to know the details of your past debt. You can also inform in the letter that as per the FDCPA, you don't want to be called at your place of work or at home and all the necessary communications should be done via email.

Not validating the debt and still continuing to recover the debt is a violation of the FDCPA law under Section 809 ( 8 ). If they break the law, you can consult your attorney.

I worked nights. I usually don't get to sleep until 4:00 am or 5:00 am. Please try to imagine that the same number keeps calling me in the morning 4 or 5 times (sometimes even one call after another). At first I have no idea about what happened. I even answered a few times and it seems a machine tried to play the recording yet unsuccessful. All I could hear was "Hello-" repeated indefinitely. I had to unhook the phone cord this morning. I really need my sleep.

After I hooked the cable back, I went to gym. When I got back, great, a threatening message left on my machine for Nicholai or something. The message was tricky, they said, "By picking up this message, you agree you are Nicholai XXXX, you owed a debt to XXXX...(not word of word)" Very funny, so I should erase this message before I know what's this about to disagree I am Nicholai who owed this debt? And for God's sake, I'm not even sure there's a Nicholai who really owed a debt.

An idea pops into my mind and I google three most frequent numbers. Gosh, I'm NOT the only one! I found this site! Two of the the numbers, according to the discussions here, belong to MRS collection agency, and one of them belongs to Cancer Center of America (which seems to be bogus, too).

I really don't think it's right. I worked in A/R and I coordinated with collection agencies we used. When clients owed us money, there must be invoices. We turned over past due invoices to the collection agencies after we tried our best to collect the past dues from our end. The invoices would include amount owed, business name, number and addresses. These information may not be 100% accurate, but based on the feedback of this discussion board, it seems the information MRS got are 90% incorrect. If it's not harassment, what it? Personal debt would be trickier, but I believe it won't be much different. There's ALWAYS information with the method of payment! Exercise the due diligence first, okay?

I feel horrible enough that my confidentiality (my home phone) is not well respected, and now I have to prove I'm not the person they are looking for? I never think about suing anyone, but if I did, they may be the first, or the phone company is simply going to lose me as a customer, oh by the way, a very loyal customer who never miss out payment, and I won't be able to call 911 through land line when there's an emergency!

Now, let's take a look, just today, 888-274-9976 called me twice and 800-932-4950 called me 14 times.

Calls often, first asked for my 49 year old daughter that has never lived here and I do not know her location.  I filed a complaint with Consumer services.  Now calls are for my ex-wife, who also has never lived here. They are very nasty and threatening.  I refuse to talk with them and no longer answer the phone so they leave nasty messages.   I have no debts, am a retired disabled veteran. The initial agency was Capital Management Services, a Collection Agency.  The phone number called from has changed so I don't know if it is still the same agency.

Same with me - a deep-voiced man who said his name was George Foster said for me to call him back at 888-508-6301. He said that my documents had come across his desk for review, he was disappointed about it getting to this point, said he'd be willing to work with me. He said a decision had to be made and the decision would directly effect me. That was it. Sounds like a scam and I have received nothing in the mail from anyone indicating that I am behind. That I know of I am current on all debts I am repaying. I'd love to know if anyone has actually called them back to see what they say or do.
Thanks

I wondered if you ever got anything valid  from them.  I got the same exact word for word message but from a Tim Lawson.  I have no idea who this is with and the reference number given doesn't match any accounts i have.  I was very nervous at first until i saw your message.  This is just totally unfair.  At least leave what they want and who!  Cowards!

Vile collection agency calls me on my business cell phone looking for someone else.  I don't know, nor have I ever known, the person whom they are seeking.  Was accused of being a liar and of having an alias.  Callers are angry and hostile and probably evil as well (wouldn't you have to be?).  They refuse to identify their company and hang up when I tell them that they are going to be charged with phone harassment for ignoring my request to stop calling me.

Recieved my first call today from this number early in the AM. There is no reason for them to have my cell number. I am lucky that I did not answer... because it I had I'd be in a foul mood, For this number is private and on the National "Do Not Call List" I now have them on my "Do Not Answer List"

Call all the time as stated by someone else if I don't answer they'll call right back and call everal times in a row.  Looking for my husband and now are calling both my parents and his mother.  I called them back and told her that my mother-in-law and parents numbers needed to ba taken off their lists and the very nasy lady on the the other end told me that no such thing would happen and they would continue to call those numbers if it got us to call back.
