UnlistedPhone - 24 Jul 2008I received a call from this number 7/24/2008 (I am in Northern California)...It came in at 8:00PM PDT which is 11:00 PM EDT. I called the number back, but a recording came on stating that it was the American Justice Center.

I called the phone number listed in this posting. The first receptionist transferred me to the member services department and was able to be placed on their "do not call" list. Apparently the National Do Not Call registry doesn't apply to non-profit organizations, which the ACLJ is apparently.
The Member Services lady explained they are changing telemarketing companies. I advised of the thousands of posting on several websites about this phone number and people were not happy! She was very polite and apologetic.

drwf - 3 Sep 2008Thank you for this info. It was very helpful. I called the ACLJ number you provided and she confirmed the 202.507.7331 telemarketing calls were for their company. The woman I spoke with agreed to have my phone number removed from the list and said it would take 24-48 hours. Hope this takes care of the annoying calls.

andergl - 7 Jul 2008If you try to call it back you get the "We're sorry..." automated message. Why doesn't the phone company put a system in place that blocks all calls that are blocked from being returned. This would end all of this BS with the anonymous telemarketers that are skirting the current laws. The technology is quite simple and basic. Don't take "no" for an answer! This isn't a matter of "We can't" but "We won't" because of the $$ involved.
